Like many of you, I went through many of the fad diets: Keto, Atkins, Vegan, and fasting and whatever the current diet of the month was. It could not work for long, because they are not sustainable. I also spent hours sweating away at the gym and even had a trainer for awhile who pushed me to my limits.
I was dealing with this for a good part of my life. I had gained weight when I went away from college and struggled most of my life. I was like a yoyo, up and down 20 or 30 pounds. I could lose 30 pounds when needed for much of my life, but at a certain point that stopped being easy.
How horrible it was to go on a blind date when my yoyo was on the high point. Pulling in my stomach as though I was fooling someone, while the only person I was fooling was myself. Luckily for me I found and married someone who was okay with the pudgy version of myself, but it still affected me at work, and in social scenarios. At some point, and especially after Covid, the ability to yoyo stopped, I was not 265 pounds and not able to lose weight anymore.
One day after much pain and after a lot of trial and error and soul searching, I figured it all out. At 62 I am in better shape that I was at 30. I have lost weight, gained muscle and did it on my terms. No crazy hours in the gym, no intense drill sergeant barking at me and not crazy fad diets. Why had I not figured this out when I was 30?
I decided to share this with others. If you are a younger version of me, this could be your salvation. If you are older than me, this could add years to your life and quality years at that. Please take advantage of those hard learned lessons. I want to hear from each of you that this has changed your life. Life is too precious to live in mediocrity. You can achieve anything.
